Will Uncle Lou begin his trade deadline moves early?
As per Tom Gulitti of the Fire and Ice blog there are reports that Marek Zidlicky has waived his no trade clause to allow a trade to the Devils.
Here are some initial thoughts...
Zidlicky has been a healthy scratch and a message sent to him. A change of scenario I think is needed for Zidlicky for sure.
After a few good seasons from 2008 to 2010 Zidlicky's stats has been slowly dropping, mostly due to being healthy.
A dman that can log minutes, play the point on the PPlay and a good puck mover. This could be what the doctor ordered for the Devils.
The question is, who goes? Which dman steps aside to make room for Zidlicky? Does this mean the Foster experiment is done? Does this mean Larsson will go to Albany to hone his skills and mature?
Dont forget, we still have a dependable top 4 dman in Tallinder that will come back at some point.
I have not heard which Devils may be on the move to Minny if this were to happen but NO, I don’t think Parise is it!
I think Mat Tedenby could be a casualty. Perhaps Palmieri.
With a year left on his contract, the 35 year old is one of the highly coveted Dmen coming into the trade deadline.
I think if this acquisition were to happen it will solidify the Devils D and make them a deeper, serious threat in the playoffs. We all know Uncle Lou likes to add D depth when the Devils have a legitimate playoff team. Over the years similar moves were pulled by Uncle Lou: Housley, Malakhov, Zyuzin, Salvador to name a few. Some successful, some not so but this rumor makes total sense.
As Uncle Lou has been recently quoted : “If we can get better, we’ll try to get better”
As they say...the early bird gets the worm. Lets see how early Uncle Lou is.
