12:54 pm: Media Alert: JT Will appear at 5:20 pm today on NHLLive on the NHl Network and at 5:30 on NHL on the Fly. Set your DVRs. :o)

Well, it seems that the league is finally taking notice of the accomplishments that John Tavares has made. Not only an All Star, but now the first Star of the Month for the NHL. Nice going.

Certainly we hear it from every Islander critic that he plays on a "crappy team" in a "crappy building" with "crappy fans," but no matter what, the critic's cannot take away the man's natural-born talent and ability to be make a difference on the ice.

Here is a paragraph from the Islanders press release:
The Islanders first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft is currently tied for fourth in the league in scoring with 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists). A native of Mississagua, ON, Tavares also led the Islanders in points during each of his first two seasons.

Now, making a difference OFF the ice today, John will be joining his team mates for the Islanders Casino Night to benefit the Islanders Children's Charity. Pucks and Bucks in New Hyde Park tonight. If you are one of the lucky fans with the ability to attend this charity event, you should have an amazing time. For those of us who couldn't do it, we can tune in to the iTV Red Carpet show at 6:30 pm.

The Anaheim Ducks did something like this a few months ago and it was a huge success and seemed like a lot of fun for the fans as well as the players. Let's hope that the Isles have the same amount of success.

Also announced today was the return to Bridgeport of Kevin Poulin. As the Islanders do not play again until Friday, I'm not sure this means anything. Although I didn't see an annoucement that Rhett had been put back on the ferry to BPort. Hmmmm....

Will we see Al Montoya back between the pipes this weekend since there are back-to-back games? Did trade talks break off somewhere?

We'll just have to wait and see.
