Four of the six Flyers participants in last night's NHL All-Star Skills Competition had memorable moments during their respective events last night. This afternoon, Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell will play for Team Alfredsson while Kimmo Timonen will skate for Team Chara in the 2012 All-Star Game.

In last night's Skills Competition, rookie selection Couturier (Team Alfredsson) scored the nicest prop-free goal in the opening "Breakaway Challenge" event (my least favorite event of the night). Fellow rookie Matt Read (Team Alfredsson) was runner-up to Jamie Benn in the Accuracy Shooting event. Hartnell fared well as a one-timer shooter in the Skills Relay. Timonen scored a goal in the closing Elimination Shootout.

Giroux had momentary problems in the stickhandling portion of the Skills Relay and also got stopped in the closing event.

The Flyers resume real hockey on Tuesday when they host the Winnipeg Jets.

The Phantoms were on the wrong end of a 3-0 score last night in Albany. Jason Bacashihua stopped 18 of 20 shots in a losing effort.

The AHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place in Atlantic City today, with the All-Star Game taking place tomorrow.
