2:09 pm: Oh! and I forgot to say that Nabokov gets the start -- again.

Nice to get that text over my phone that John Tavares has indeed been selected to represent the NY Islanders at the 2012 NHL All Star Game in Ottawa.

From the Media Release:
Tavares, 21, leads all Islanders in scoring with 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) through 40 games this season. The first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft also led the Islanders in points during each of his first two seasons, but 2012 marks his first All-Star selection.

Only 20 players in the NHL have more points this season than Tavares, who has recorded 10 multi-point games, including two four-point efforts and one hat trick. The Oakville, ON native, leads all Islanders forwards in ice-time, averaging 19:39 a game.

The 2012 NHL All-Star Weekend will take place in Ottawa from Jan. 26 through Jan. 29. The festivities culminate with the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL® All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Scotiabank Place. Live television coverage will be provided by CBC and RDS in Canada and the NBC Sports Network in the United States

Congrats JT. You certainly deserve it.

Now... how about them Flyers? Think we got this?

When Brian Compton of NHL.com spoke with JT earlier this morning he said it was a huge honor to be selected but that he wasn't thinking about it and only focusing on tonight's game. He said consistency and finding ways to win were his main concern.

2:35 pm: This is what scares me about tonight:

ISLANDERS VS. FLYERS:
All-Time Record vs. Flyers: 89-116-30
Last Season's Record vs. Flyers: 0-5-1
Last Regulation Win: 4/1/10 –Islanders 6 vs. Flyers 4
Last Regulation Loss: 4/9/11 –Islanders 4 at Flyers 7
Last Overtime Decision: 11/23/11 –Islanders 3 vs. Flyers 4
Last Shootout: 3/28/09 –Islanders 3 at Flyers 4
