Hulsizer's Bid To Purchase The Blues Terminated By The NHL

It appears that second time was not lucky in the NHL ownership hunt of Chicago-based businessman Matthew Hulsizer.

TSN is reporting that while Hulsizer had signed a letter of intent with the league in October of 2011 to purchase the St. Louis Blues from Sports Capital Partners, headed by Dave Checketts, and Towerbrook Capital Partners, the NHL has reportedly terminated the agreement as the December 31st deadline for Hulsizer to have a purchase agreement acceptable to the league in place was not met.

Hulsizer is perhaps best remembered for his failed attempts to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes in the midst of an ownership battle involving the league, the City of Glendale, and RIM executive Jim Balsillie during the 2010-11

TSN cites the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as identifying Blues minority owner Tom Stillman as the most likely candidate to purchase the franchise in light of the removal of Hulsizer’s intent to purchase.
