Battle of the stats

Goals for/against per game

Ottawa - 2.97 / 3.36
New Jersey - 2.57 / 2.81

Powerplay/Penalty Kill percentage

Ottawa - 17.5% / 79.3%
New Jersey - 13.5% / 91.9%

Here are the projected lines (subject to change) for the Senators:

Senators lines courtesy of DailyFaceoff.com.

Colin Greening - Jason Spezza - Milan Michalek
Eric Condra - Kyle Turris - Daniel Alfredsson
Nick Foligno - Zack Smith - Bobby Butler
Kaspers Daugavins - Zenon Konopka - Chris Neil

Filip Kuba - Erik Karlsson
Jared Cowen - Sergei Gonchar
Chris Phillips - Brian Lee

Here are the projected lines (subject to change) for the Devils:

Zach Parise - Adam Henrique - Ilya Kovalchuk
Petr Sykora - Patrik Elias - Dainius Zubrus
Mattias Tedenby - Travis Zajac - David Clarkson
Eric Boulton - Ryan Carter - Cam Janssen

Bryce Salvador - Adam Larsson
Matt Taormina - Kurtis Foster
Henrik Tallinder - Mark Fayne

Notes: It looks like Matt Taormina will sit yet again...Martin Brodeur is expected to start...Anton Volchenkov will not play...Matt Taormina will take his spot...Eric Boulton will return to the lineup in place of Tim Sestito...With a win the Devils will be just one point behind the Penguins with the same amount of games played.

Senators to watch out for:

Daniel Alfredsson - 'Alfie' tallied two points in the most recent matchup between these two teams. Not only that, but Alfredsson has tallied 11 points (4G, 7A) in his last eight games.

Kyle Turris - He has four points (0G, 4A) in six games since being traded to the Senators and appears to be gaining comfort within their system.

Erik Karlsson - Karlsson, one of if not my favorite player in the NHL, has been playing at an all world level this year for the Sens. He is second in the NHL in assists and leads all defenseman in scoring.

Devils to watch out for:

Ilya Kovalchuk - Kovy is coming off one of his best games as a Devil in which he tallied three points. Can he have a repeat performance against the Sens?

Adam Henrique - He was just named rookie of the month for December by the NHL. I'm sure he'll want to get off to a good start so he can do the same this month.

Martin Brodeur - He has been playing much better as of late and has won five of his last six starts.
