Two highly-touted prospects in the Ottawa Senators farm system inked entry-level contracts on Thursday, as per a team release.

Stefan Noesen and Matt Puempel - two first-round selections from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft - made their three-year deals official on Thursday morning.

Noese - the Plano, Texas native grabbed by the Ottawa Senators with the 21st-overall pick - is enjoying a ton of success in his third year with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. With 13G/21A in just 30GP, Noesen's been a serious force for the Whalers once again, building off of his 77P(68GP) campaign from one year ago.

Puempel, the eighteen-year old Windsor, Ontario product selected three picks after Noesen is also off to a hot start. Down in Peterborough, he's scored 17G/15A in 29 GP, giving him over a PPG pace with the Petes in his third-year down in the OHL.

While both players are lighting the lamp with regularity in the OHL, Noesen and Puempel are still considered developmental talents that might not hit the NHL for a couple of years. Still, Bryan Murray and the front office in Ottawa talked up both players in a big way upon their respective selections, and collectively hope they'll become impact players in the future.

Back with more tomorrow.
