If what TSN's James Duthie is reporting is accurate, than the Ottawa Senators are going to be seeing a heavy helping of one Ron Wilson behind the Toronto Maple Leafs bench for the next few years. What better way to celebrate Christmas than finding a contract extension sitting in your stocking?

Ron Wilson had playfully tweeted over the past few days about potentially receiving his extension on Christmas morning, and it appears that the Toronto brass has made it happen for the Windsor, Ontario native. Wilson's had a mixed-bag of success and failures with the Toronto Maple Leafs since taking over the job back in 2008-2009, but he's since righted the ship and has Toronto contending for a playoff spot this season.

If any team knows how important a coach is to the club, it's Toronto's rival in Ottawa. The Senators were a misguided team under previous head coach Cory Clouston. With Paul MacLean at the helm, a seemingly hapless club devoid of talent has been absurdly competitive, buying into MacLean's system. And, for what its worth, it appears the same has happened under Ron Wilson's fourth year as head coach of Toronto.

Yet, as happy as Ron Wilson is, there may be a few big smiles shining from ear to ear in the households of Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek, et al. Ottawa's solid power-play is one of the big reasons why they're staying afloat, and if Ron Wilson's extension means one thing, it's plenty more years of toiling at the bottom of the league's penalty kill rankings for Toronto.

I kid, I kid.. But I had to get some kind of Toronto shot off, right?

For all of you celebrating the holidays in Toronto, Ottawa, and across the world, I wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for hanging with me every single day. Talking hockey with you never feels like a job, and that's because I have some of the best readers in the world. Literally cannot stress that point enough around here. All of your comments - whether complementary or critical - are what makes this back-and-forth work as we all push for sheer perfection.

Now? Go open those presents. Find me on the couch in twenty - after all, it's a Merry Knicksmas in the Yost household.
