And we are off to the races....

On Turris...

Today, Darren Dreger is reporting Maloney has informed a few GMs that a trade could go down by Monday. Turris has been scratched the last two games...so Maloney isn't exactly showcasing him...however there is a certain amount of speculation that Maloney is attempting to give "the appearance of a market" for Kyle, but isn't going to just give him away.

The Leafs, Canucks, Sharks, Jackets, and Red Wings are the teams I have heard. My guess...Turris remains a Coyote until 2012. The offers I have been told just aren't that strong yet and Maloney has been famously outward regarding NOT wanting to give him away. The only way Turris gets moved is if he is blown away...and so far it's not happening.

Maloney telling GMs a deal is close is exactly what he should be doing however...if it is really close or not is another game of chicken...the kind we have seen before.

On the Leafs and Staal...

There have been quite a few rumors about Toronto and Staal, including a rumor stating a deal would be announced after the trade freeze lifts. Rutherford came out and squashed that by saying Staal wouldn't be traded. That being said, the Hurricanes may be in a situation soon where either Staal or Ward is dealt...and most people believe Ward is the more untouchable. One source adding, "Really only Cam and Skins (Skinner) are complete non-starters."

As for Toronto...I have heard a ton of talk regarding the Leafs and Jackets. While much of that has centered around Brassard over the past two weeks, I am now hearing there may be a growing possibility of Toronto grabbing Rick Nash...a player the Leafs have forever had atop their A-List.

What will the Flyers do?

Already we are hearing how Pronger's money will be spent, but it is my belief the Flyers may make two moves here. One short term to fill the hole temporarily , and one MAJOR trade to set them up for years to come. Names to look at do include Bouwmeester (who they have tried to get before), Gonchar, and Mark Streit. However....depending on the way the next month plays out...look to the Flyers to make a strong push for Shea Weber. I am not saying the Preds would even move Weber, but the Flyers are a team that actually has so many parts they could put together the kind of package which the Preds would have to seriously consider. The Preds need scoring and offensive depth badly...two strong suits of the Flyers..

The Devils and Kings are talking once again...

The Devils like Voynov a great deal...The Kings are keeping lines open at least because if Parise becomes available the Kings (and Leafs) would jump to front and center.

The Canadiens and Sabres....

are also talking to the Kings...but about Jarret Stoll....
