---------------------------

A solid win for the Nashville Predators last night at Bridgestone Arena as they defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicated. The Predators outshot, outworked, outhustled and simply outplayed a Ducks team still reeling from the turmoil of a coaching change and a terrible start to the season.

Tha catalyst for last night’s victory? Jordin Tootoo. He is like kryptonite to Anaheim. Everything he does tends to make the Ducks make bad choices, even after the game Ryan Getzlaf was bothered by a call on Brandon McMillan, after spearing Tootoo early in the third period. Getzlaf didn’t recognize that the slashing call was a break for McMillan as spearing is considered a much more serious offense and normally draws a major. His post game quote, “I hope Mr. Shanahan saw it.” He may not like what he hopes for… the call could go against McMillan if it even gets reviewed.

One bright spot for the Ducks last night was the play of Dan Ellis. Ellis kept them in the game with the kind of goaltending Pred Nation was used to seeing during his time with the Predators. Anaheim needed that type of performance as the Ducks really struggled to get shots on Pekka Rinne, managing a meager 17 shots for the game. Give Ellis a decent defense and he could make some noise.

The Preds are off today, this four game home stand has gotten off to a great start, Calgary is in town Tuesday night.

Random Notes

- Roman Josi got his first NHL goal last night, a laser from the blue line to put the Preds up 2-1. Josi’s game is rounding into shape after a rough start.

- Last night's win put the Predators all alone at the 8 spot in the Western Conference.

- Anaheim did not get a shot on goal until the 14:55 mark of the first period.

- Having two goals waived off in a game can really throw a team, Pred Nation has to like how the Predators reacted, not a lot of complaints, they just got back to work. Good stuff.

- The Philadelphia Flyers are nervous, wondering what the prognosis for Claude Giroux ends up being. Giroux has turned into a key contributor for Philly.

- Edmonton’s Andy Sutton gets eight games for his head shot on Alexei Ponikarovsky. Sutton has been suspended for a total of 13 games so far this season.

- The temperature of Terry Murray’s seat is going up after the Kings lost their 4th straight last night.
