The results are in and Ryan O'Reilly is the NHL's second star of the week.

O'Reilly joins the New York Islanders' Matt Moulson (first) and Jonathan Quick (third) as the NHL's three stars for the week.

O'Reilly posted seven points in four games this week and has had three consecutive games of two or more points. Known more for his defensive play, O'Reilly has stepped up his offensive game in a time when the Avs needed someone to step up.

Together with Gabriel Landeskog and Milan Hejduk, O'Reilly centers the best line for the Avalanche, the line that has sparked their three game winning streak. During this winning streak, the line has put up five goals and 11 points.

In what has been a breakout year, O'Reilly currently leads the Avs in assists (15) and points (21) despite being known mainly as a defensive forward, a paradigm which he is changing.

O'Reilly also is second to Pavel Datsyuk in the NHL in takeaways and 12th in faceoff percentage, winning 55.6 percent.

If he continues playing the way he is, there is no reason O'Reilly shouldn't find himself a finalist for the Selke trophy.
