It was a only a Thursday in Manitoba.
It was only the first day of December.
It was only a game between the 13th seed in the East against the 8th seed in the West.
It was only the Phoenix Coyotes in town.
There was only 1 goal scored. (Only one more goal than degrees it was outside in Celsius.)
These fans only saw the sun in their sky for just over 8 hours yesterday...
And yet...It was only a SPECTACULAR hockey game.
Yes... it was the return of the franchise that once played in Winnipeg, but really... it was only the return of Shane Doan.
The closest connection these Coyotes have to these Jets is two locker rooms of players who weren't sure where they were going to play when last season came to a close.
This game was truly amazing and the fact it was so awesome proves two facts about this great sport...
#1. NHL players do feed off of an insane crowd. They do raise their level of play when the atmosphere is raised.
and
#2. THE CITY OF WINNIPEG IS AN NHL CITY.
