UPDATE 12:30 PM EST

It's confirmed: Sergei Bobrovsky will get the start in goal again for the Flyers today.

MINI-PREVIEW 9:30 AM EST

There is no rest for either the Philadelphia Flyers (13-6-3) or their Winter Classic opponents and longtime archrivals, the New York Rangers (11-5-3). One day after downing the Montreal Canadiens, 3-1, in the annual Black Friday matinee at the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers head to Madison Square Garden for a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Blueshirts. The game starts at 2 PM EST and will be broadcast locally on CSN Philly and nationally on NHL Network.

This is the first of six meetings between the Atlantic Division competitors. Last year, the Flyers won the first four games but the Rangers won the last two. Coming into this game, the Rangers have been the better team of late, winning 8 of their last 10 games and five in a row at home. Last night, the Rangers doubled up the Capitals, 6-3.

The Flyers played a horrific first period (a major problem of late) against Montreal yesterday but recovered to take over the game in the second and third stanzas. Claude Giroux led the way with a pair of goals, while Jakub Voracek (1G, 1A) and Sean Couturier also played very strong games. Sergei Bobrovsky was excellent in goal when needed.

New York got a four-goal explosion in the second period against Washington yesterday and added two more in the third. Ex-Flyer and longtime Philly killer Ruslan Fedotenko tallied his second and third goals of the season. The Rangers also got goals from Marian Gaborik, Artem Anisimov (PPG), Brian Boyle and top line center Brad Richards.

On the injury front, the Flyers are a banged up team. They will be without four regular starters for this game, as none among Chris Pronger (virus), Jaromir Jagr (groin), James van Riemsdyk (upper body injury) or Andreas Lilja (high ankle sprain) are available. New York, conversely, is a much healthier squad coming into this tilt.
