I expected better than that from one of the games up and coming stars.

Punk play.

"He (Briere) got turned around and I hit him," Ovechkin said in his defense.

"I didn't want to give him some injury. It was an accident."

Ovechin was bounced from the game and given a misconduct for his actions.

"He was behind me - I couldn't see it. The puck was going deep and I was going for a (line) change," said Briere. "It was definitely late and from behind. It's tough to say whether he deserves a suspension."

Briere recounted Ovechin's nimrod thought process after the game.

"He was behind me - I couldn't see it. . The puck was going deep and I was going for a (line) change," said Briere. "It was definitely late and from behind. It's tough to say whether he deserves a suspension."

I expect the NHL to hand down a 2-43 game suspension to Ovechkin for his actions.

The NHL has made quantum leaps forward since the Lockout ended.

Buildings are full, the flow of the games resembles river hockey and the fans are loving every minute of it. The stars are able to flash their individual talents without getting mugged and obstructed. The owners are making money.

Bottomline: The game has evolved.

So too have the players.

There are rules in the book to protect a player when he's prone, facing the bench, about to leave the ice on a line change. That player ought not be hit from behind while attempting to exit the ice.

"(Briere) was defenceless. He went headfirst into the boards," Ruff said. "I think if (Washington) looked at it through their eyes and it was Ovechkin going headfirst into the wall, I think they'd feel the same way. We don't need those plays in the game."

It was gutless and cowardly act.

What Ovechkin did to Briere is no different than what Brooks Orpik did to Eric Cole. The only thing different is that Erik Cole broke his neck in the transaction. Briere was lucky to walk away unscathed---- this time.

Too bad.

Ovehkin has been a human highligt reel for the past two seasons.

Now, he;ll be branded as one of "those" types of players.

Briere could have been seriously injured.

The Caps play in Buffalo on December 29. Get your tix now.

Lets see what kind of supplimentary discipline Colin Campbell hands down to Ovechkin.

Do we need to see another NHLer in a Halo ?

Look for the Ovechkin cheap shot on You Tube, and tell the youth hockey players in your life, be it House or Travel, that NEVER will a careless hit from behind on an opponent be tolerated.

Why start Ryan Miller in this one?

The guy clearly was not himself early on in the game.

Max Afinogenov's disallowed goal was a good goal.

No kicking motion.

The puck hit #61s shinguard as he drove the the net.

Bad call, in a game that in my opinion, was allowed to get away from the refs' control.
