According to the Denver Post, the Avalanche finally have named a captain and it is the Duke.

Hejduk, 35, will follow Adam Foote and Joe Sakic as captains of the Avalanche. Hejduk is currently leading the team with seven goals and is second to Matt Duchene with 12 points. If Hejduk gets 13 more goals, he will set the franchise record for consecutive 20-goal seasons with 12

The Duke will have a tough job in front of him as he will have to lead a young Avalanche team that is 3-6-1 in the last ten games and 2-6 at home.

According to coach Joe Sacco, Paul Stastny will wear one A and the other will rotate.
