Rome Conquers an Island

What a game last night. The Canucks returned home for the first time in six games and the fans got to see the much anticipated regular season, home debut, of the legendary Aaron Rome. The only other debut in Canucks history that had has had this much hype behind it was Bure's. Unlike Bure, Rome did not disappoint, he had 3 points and guided the Canucks to a 4-1 win. I believe there are plans on the agenda this morning, at Vancouver City Hall, to erect a statue of Rome in Stanley Park.

Other then Rome's play, the rest of the Canucks played pretty well, dominating a weaker Islanders squad. All four lines generated pressure the whole game, and all six D were solid. When called upon, Luongo was good in net. The team actually blocked some shots last night (21) and surprise, surprise, they played a lot better defensively. Maybe I was on to something yesterday by suggesting they need to block more shots. Overall, not much to complain about other than Rome only getting 17 minutes of ice-time. But that's OK; we need him fresh for the playoffs.

Lu
I think I have figured out what Lu did this summer. He spent hours and hours watching videos of Tim Thomas and Dominik Hasek. It's the only explanation I can come up with for why he's rolling around and flopping like a fish this year. Oh well, He's stopping the puck again and that's all that matters. His performance overall was pretty darn good last night and it doesn't matter how you stop the shot, it only maters that you do stop the shot.

Rome
Again Rome was a stud last night. He had 3 points in a huge win for the Canucks. If you combined Bobby Orr, Al MacInnis, and Scott Stevens you would have Aaron Rome, that's how good he has been in the 4 games he has played this year. The Canucks are 3-0 when Rome plays a whole game this season. If Rome can stay healthy the Canucks could finish 73-8-1.

So what is the secret to Rome's newly found super powers? I have a theory that it is that newly grown moustache that is the source of Rome's powers. Like Sampson's hair, Rome's stache gives him power. He looks like a young Dave Babych and is almost playing as well as Dave used to play. I hope he keeps the Stache and keeps playing the way he is now. Vote Rome for All Star, it's a crime he not on the Ballot.

Great Players
Ballard, Hodgson, Rome, Luongo
Average Players
Hamhuis, Bieksa, Salo, Booth, Burrows, Higgins, D. Sedin, Edler, Malhotra, H. Sedin, Weise, Hansen, Lapierre, Volpatti

Kesler- time to step up Kes, 45% on face-offs and Rome has more goals than you now. Time to step it up.

Fan Balloting Opens Today
NHL All Star balloting opens today so get in and vote for your Canucks. Doughty has been bumped on my ballot by Rome so here's my revised version.
Sedin/Sedin/Burrows
Edler/Rome

I'll be doing my best to get online and vote everyday, hopefully everyone else can do the same. Let get some Canucks in the starting line up this year.

Thanks for reading.
