Devils waive Rod Pelley and Mark Fraser; Brodeur playing next seas?

- In case you have not yet heard, the New Jersey Devils have place forward Rod Pelley and defenseman Mark Fraser on waivers. If I'm an NHL team looking for a defensive defenseman or depth I'd claim Fraser. Though there are teams who fit that bill I would be surprised if he is claimed. As for Pelley, I don't see him being claimed by anyone. Devils President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello told Tom Gulitti that if they clear waivers it doesn't necessarily mean they will be sent to the minors.

- To nobody's surprise Martin Brodeur will start tomorrow against the Hurricanes. Pete DeBoer wants to get him going and he's coming off a solid outing vs. Winnipeg so this should be expected. Sticking with Brodeur, Elliott Friedman of CBC is reporting that though Brodeur won't openly admit it, he is hoping to play next season.

- From Bob McKenzie this morning: "Went to bed real early last night. Anything happen while I was sleeping? I have a feeling there's more where that came from. Annual U.S. Thanksgiving "not happy with my team" feeling has arrived 2 weeks early for lot of teams in NHL. Will be an interesting week." I'm not sure what, if anything, will happen this week in terms of coaching changes, trades, etc. but I'll certainly have my eyes on things. It will be interesting to see if New Jersey is involved in any of this.

- Tom Gulitti is reporting that Ilya Kovalchuk will not play tomorrow. This isn't a huge loss in the short-term as the Devils can manage without him for a few games, but if this injury keeps him out of the lineup for an extended period of time the Devils won't be in great shape.

- The Devils have only won 46% of their face-offs this season which ranks 29th in the NHL. I guess you could say this is expected as the team is missing their top two centers in Travis Zajac and Jacob Josefson.
