Jhonas Enroth made 29 saves--- 13 in the third period--- to back stop his Buffalo Sabres to a mush-needed, long-overdue win on home ice on Friday night.

Enroth's push back performance sent the home fans home in a good mood for the first time in a long time. The Sabres are now 7-5.

A solid 60 minute effort was just what the doctor ordered.

"We finally got a win here, and everyone can stop talking that we can't win here," Jhonas said after the win . "It was really nice, and we're back on track now."

Kudos to Enroth for making four outstanding saves during a key 5 on 3 PP for the Flames during the second period. He kept his composure and played well under pressure.

I'll go ahead and tip my bucket to Flames backup, Henrik Karlsson, who making his third start of the season/ Karlsson ended his virtuoso performance, making 42 saves--- many of the highlight reel variety--- for the Flames who have lost two out of three games.

Drew Stafford and Nathan Gerbe provided all of the offense that Buffalo would need.

Were it not for Karlsson's brilliance, this game could have easily ended 5-1 or 6-1 in favor of Buffalo.

No time to drink in and savour this win as the Sabres charter to Ottawa to play the Sens Saturday night.

Ryan Miller vs. Robin Lehner.

One-timers:

* Flame D, Anton Babchuk, has an absolute howitzer of a clapper! Luckily, Babchuk cranked his bomb off the crossbar on the Calgary PP in the early stages of the game.

* Corey Tropp looked like a seasoned NHLer in his first NHL start. His game was honest and truly north/south. Excellent skater with a heavy shot. After the six minutes of Buffalo PP time in the first period denied him access to the ice, Tropp skated 6:19 and acquitted himself rather well. He delivered one hit and committed a takesaway. The Goose-Gerbe duo did not skip a beat without Pat Kaleta riding their wing. PK sat out his first game of a four game suspension for head-butting Philly's Jake Voracek.

***

The Sabres have to clean up the 12 turnovers that they committed in the Calgary game. The Flames gave Buffalo 11 pucks.

***

Goose was a tower of power, leading his team with 5 hits.
