Gotta admit it. I was so looking forward to a Ryan Miller vs. Mikka Kiprusoff battle in Buffalo. Oh, well. There's always next time.
Jhonas Enroth gets the four by six for Buffalo, while young Hank Karlsson gets the cage for Calgary. Only Lindy, Ryan, Jhonas, and Jim Corsi know for certain if this was the way that the games were divvied up at the beginning of the week, with Enroth getting the middle game in the three game set. Lindy Ruff does not strike me as the kind of coach who would start the backup rather than have his #1 risk getting cat-called again by the home fans.
I like Buffalo's chances tonight to bounce back with a souvenir win for their fans on home ice.
Here's the tale of the tape on the starting net minders:
Karlsson is a big goalie (6'6" and 215lbs), who moves well in his crease. He's winless in three starts, and sports a 3.32 GAA with a pedestrian .881 save %. He's allowed 8 goals on just 67 shots.
Memo to Roy, Stafford, Leino, et al: Shoot early and often. This guy is allowing a goal for every eight shots he faces. By that logic, take 40 shots, score 5 goals, eh?
After today's skate, Lindy Ruff spoke about the Enroth start, plus shares his thoughts on Pat Kaleta's suspension and the promotion of Corey Tropp.
