Been a crazy Friday...

Here is the latest...

The Scoop:
There are multiple sources telling me Sidney Crosby is about to return. I am really expecting the Penguins to keep this way under the radar, and no comments have been available. The Penguins sure don't want the team to be "waiting on Sid" to return or for the questions to start...Is Sid playing tonight...how about tomorrow? etc.
The Question:
Should the Penguins ease Sidney in...Ex: play him on mainly power plays the first few games? Or, is such a thing just not possible with a player as competitive as Crosby?

The Scoop:
The Senators are a MAJOR player in the Turris sweeps. To go with Calgary, Vancouver, NY Islanders, and the Maple Leafs.
The Question:
Do you believe Maloney when he says Turris won't be dealt, or do you think he really has no choice?

The Scoop:
According to ESPN the Rangers and Leafs are talking and the Rangers have a strong interest in Cody Franson. I haven't received any confirmation to this regard, but at this point no denials either. There is no doubt the Rangers are in dire need of a spark...I don't see what they could send to Toronto to help though. And while the Leafs have a plethora of defensemen, remember this is the same Brian Burke who took a great deal of time to deal Kaberle. And in return eventually landed Joe Colborne who is currently atop the leading scorers in the AHL with 9 goals and 9 assists in 10 games! Burke treats his assets seriously. And also know this: No Leaf players are asking for trades right now. None.
The Question:
Should Burke even slightly risk the current chemistry of the Eastern Conference leading Maple Leafs who are 9-3-1 as of this writing?

The Scoop:
The Predators went out and signed their goalie Pekka Rinne to the tea's biggest financial commitment to date. I applaud the movie, as a firm believer that Rinne is a top 5 NHL goalie who will help keep the Preds ALWAYS competitive. There is no one more important to Nashville's future. They did NOT overspend, and this does not suddenly mean Shea Weber will be dealt or that the Preds won't be able to afford him and Suter. I have pretty solid sources down there and I can tell you they aren't looking at EVER losing Weber or Suter.

As for the amount they gave Rinne...It's all about playoff rounds won in Nashville. The extra money made by winning a round or two is a huge difference. Rinne is the player most likely to get you past the opening round. He will more than pay for his salary by doing so.
The Question:
How do you see this shaking out. Do you see Rinne as a top 5 goalie as I do?

The Scoop:
I keep hearing the NY Islanders are the team to look out for when it comes to possibly making an early season blockbuster move. Look to them and the Flames...and the two teams have talked.
