As I said yesterday, there will be no game recap of last night's game as I was attending the Barrie Colts / Windsor Spitfires game. My prospect report on Nick Ebert, Jack Campbell, Mark Scheifele, Brandon Devlin, etc. Can be found at TheHockeyGuys.net here.

Here are some notes and thoughts on what I've seen from the Devils so far this season.

- Though Zach Parise has played much better than his stats show, he needs to start putting up points. I'm confident they'll come eventually, but as of right now he only has 5 points in nine games. He needs to produce more than that.

- Ilya Kovalchuk has been solid this season and he has played a ton of minutes, but the Devils need more production from him as well. He is currently second on the team in scoring, behind Patrik Elias, with 6 points in nine games. The Devils need more.

- In the offseason I saw people saying Elias was washed up on several occasions. Well, those people couldn't be more wrong. Elias has been the Devils most consistent player this season and he leads the team in scoring with 8 points in nine games.

- The Devils powerplay needs to improve, and fast. For a team with this much talent and firepower, they should be clicking at a much higher rate than the 10.3 click they're running on now. If you're wondering, that's the 3rd worst percentage in the NHL.

- I can't believe Adam Larsson still doesn't have a point. He's moved the puck very well, and has created a lot of good scoring chances for Devils players. The points will come eventually.

- Lastly, the Devils need to keep their heads up. Though they didn't have the road trip they were hoping for, they're still a .500 team. At this point last year the Devils would have killed to be .500. The Devils have a big game against the Leafs on Wednesday. They need to regroup, watch some film and stay confident.
