After a terrific start to his AHL season with 7 points in 4 games including a 5 point night, the 23 year old Hobey Baker award winner has been recalled to the main squad.

Some quotes from Maloney on his promotion,

“Andy had a strong training camp and he’s been our best player in the AHL and we think he can help us in Phoenix now,” Maloney said. “We need to have more skill and playmaking ability in our lineup so Andy will get his chance. We like his creativity, his puck movement and his power-play ability.”

“He’s coming up to play right away and he’ll be in the lineup on Sunday,” Maloney said. “Hopefully he can help us get back on track.”

The expectations are ranging from very high to hilariously low. With Tippett you know he will likely be loathe to give him valuable minutes yet with the need for a 2nd line center who isn't Hanzal it would seem logical to put him there. Miele has serious skill and despite his size is a very hard working forward, should he be an NHL center at this juncture in his career? Maybe not, but when desperate times come you go with desperate measures. The fact is he has controlled the play in the AHL like a veteran and deserved the callup, I hope they give him a chance on the 2nd or 3rd line and demoted one of Bissonnette or Nokelainen.
