It's good to be back in Philadelphia for the next six-plus weeks, as a new hockey season starts in the City of Brotherly Love. Once the regular season starts, the Flyers will play 9 of their first 14 games of the season at home before spending the majority of November and most of December on the road.

Tonight, the Flyers kick off their exhibition season with a game in Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Later today, I will post tonight's lineup for the Flyers. After the game, I will post a wrapup. This is a busy week for the Flyers, whom I suspect will more of less operate in de facto split squad mode for the next few days, given that there's also a game against the Leafs tomorrow night in Philly, followed by the annual "home" game in London, Ont. on Thursday, followed by a game in Detroit on Friday.

It doesn't make much sense to fly the team from Toronto to Philly after the game, only to turn right back around and head to Ontario again for a Thursday game that's about 120 miles from Toronto. So I suspect the squad that plays tonight will also be the one that plays against the Red Wings on Thursday, with players who appear tomorrow night in Philly joining their teammates in Detroit for the game at the Joe on Friday.

Next Monday, it looks like the Winter Classic press conference will finally be held. Later that night, the Flyers take on their WC opponent, the Rangers, at the Wells Fargo Center.
