OK Pred Nation, repeat after me… Don’t Panic.

Try it again… Don’t Panic.

Deep breath… one more time… Don’t Panic.

Feel better? Good…

The Nashville Predators have seen a lot of players go bye-bye and a little bit of drama over the last few days. Marcel Goc, Steve Sullivan, JP Dumont, Shane O’Brien all moving on and the drama being supplied by the RFA fiasco. I mean, what’s a Pred fan to do…

Repeat it… Don’t Panic.

The Predators will fill the holes in their lineup, like they always do. David Poile has handled situations like this countless times. The frustration is understandable, I guess, but let’s face it, this free agent class is not a great one, and the silly money that has been thrown around is just that… silly. Besides, name a player this team has let go to free agency that has done better for his new team.

I love Joel Ward, great guy and I’m glad to see him get a big contract, but 4 for $12m is crazy, all because he had a good playoff run. Christian Ehrhoff? Wow, Buffalo has cash and ain’t afraid to spread it around, but again… crazy money, and staying in Buffalo, Ville Leino? 6 for $27m?? Columbus showed some desperation in their signings, I don’t want to hear them whine about losing money.

And don’t get me started on Florida… Dale Tallon is doing it again. I like the acquisitions for the team but, wow… and by the way… he downgraded big time in goal.

The Nashville Predators and their wise GM David Poile are waiting for the silly money to be spent. There are quite a few names on the available list that would interest me… Chris Clark, Jason Williams, Fredrik Modin, Alex Kovalev, Kyle Wellwood, Vinny Prospal, Cory Stillman… among others.

Don’t panic Pred fans… plenty of young talent in the pipeline, most of on display at Centennial this week. This team will find the poroper replacements, they always do.
