Bloggin’ from the bus… Day Two

Y’know, as the son of a bus driver, I did this a lot as a kid. Sitting on a bus my dad was driving, to upstate New York, Dutch Country in Pennsylvania, or Colonial Williamsburg. Riding on a bus always takes me back to those times with him, treasured memories.

We’re heading back to Smashville, happy denizens of Pred Nation after a great time at the RBC Center last night. First off, I would like to send out some thanks…

- My wife Denise put this trip together, handled all the logistics, all the details… everything. She did an awesome job and on behalf of all of us on the bus… thanks!

- Everyone who came out to support this trip. It’s been fun to get together, get reacquainted with old friends and get to know new ones. Plus, your thoughtfulness in remembering my birthday really touched me.

- To all the Caniacs we met… you guys completely rock! You could not have been nicer or more welcoming to us. Us southern teams need to stick together, you set a great example on how to welcome rival fans, and still have fun cheering for your team. We also enjoyed the security guys who were messing with us before the doors opened, that includes you Eddie!

- I was very surprised at a very good cheesesteak that we got in the RBC Center. It wasn’t from Philly… but it was damn close. Bill and the gang at South Street Cheesesteaks…. Good job!

I’ll be updating from the bus as the trip goes on… we’ve got pictures from last night posted on the SlapShot Radio website… Check ‘em out!

Notes from the game…

- RBC Center is a nice venue. The house was three quarters full, but the crowd was loud. Carolina battles the same thing Nashville does, football. Yesterday was the UNC/NC State game at UNC. That took a significant piece of the crowd away.

- Both goaltenders played well last night. Cam Ward kept his team from losing the game in the third and overtime as the Preds were buzzing…

- Nice to see Martin Erat step up with the game winner.

- Jeff Skinner is the real deal. He played a very good game last night.

- Tough start to the game for both teams. Nashville was sluggish to begin with, as was Carolina. It was tough to tell which team had played the previous night. As the game progressed, you could see the Hurricanes wear down.

You are invited to follow me on Twitter. Search for PredPAPaul… Not only will I be updating when I get news or updates, but we are having a bit of fun by getting your input on Gnash introductions, weigh in on Twitter and who knows, we may use your introduction for the best mascot in the NHL at the next Preds game!
