Have the Ducks Turned a Corner?

The Anaheim Ducks won their last three games in a row at home (against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Nashville Predators). The Lightning were one of the top teams in the NHL at the time the Ducks beat them. The Pens and Preds have been struggling, but three wins in a row at home with scoring from different lines is definitely a good sign for Ducks fans.

Tonight’s win in the Honda Center was a bit messy, since the Ducks allowed the Predators to tie the game 4 times when they took the lead, but in the end Mara scored the final goal of the game with just 1.7 seconds left in regulation. Giving up leads that many times isn’t a good sign, but having the will to continue to score go ahead goals shows that the Ducks aren’t willing to just let another team take over – at least not in their own building. They have one of the best home records in the league (5-1-1), but one of the worst on the road (2-6). Perhaps part of that is the teams who visit being tired, but if the Ducks can somehow figure out a way to win more on the road and play at a consistently high level, they might be able to dig themselves out of the hole they dug with the start of the season.
