Hell is freezing over...

What excitement to start the season for the NJ Devils... all for the wrong reasons.

Without a win in their first three games the Devils find themselves in more hot water with Volchenkov out for a few more days and Rolston seeking a second opinion on his injury.

Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond has cleared waivers and sent to Albany. The Devils also signed Adam Mair, great signing. He should make his debut on Wednesday against his former club, the Sabers.

There has been talk that the NHLPA is investigating the Devils for dressing 15 skaters against the Penguins as a possible CBA violation.
The CBA states:
...a team has to dress 18 skaters and two goaltenders except in the case of an emergency.

I think this is an emergency.
Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice blog notes that there were two other instances where teams dressed fewer than 18 skaters and the NHLPA had nothing to say about it:
"Devils dressed fewer than 18 skaters for six games in 2006-07 because of cap reasons and injuries and no one in the NHLPA said a word. The NHLPA also said nothing after the Flames dressed 15 for a game at the end of the 2008-09 season. "

Jeff Finger being waived by Toronto has sparked some talk about the possible interest the Devils may have. It is too early to even go there and I dont think Finger is in Uncle Lou's plan.

So, hell is freezing over in New Jersey. With that said I will make a bold prediction - "Things WILL turn around in New Jersey!"**

** It cant get any worse...
