Cody Hodgson's mom is worse than Mama Lindros. His dad wants his own dressing room at GM place and a recliner for Carl Lindros. Cody wants Gary Roberts to carry him onto the ice and help him over the boards for shifts. The disc bulging in Hodgson's back it's bigger than dshiddy's ego....
It just keeps going on and on and if the comments section within the white towel are any indication Canucks nation need to STFU and take advantage of summer harvest and chill out. I mean really, how crazy can this get?
Well first off it doesn't help when the Province Canucks section "Orland Kurtenblog" falls prey to the same media manipulation mistakes so many make- and here we are thinking certain NHL players take liberties:
“I think Cody is a very young man who hasn’t had a lot of disappointments throughout his life. He’s probably having as tough time, personally, dealing with this one and trying to find a reason why it happened. We’ve all had times where we’ve encountered disappointment and tried to roll the [blame] in a different direction. We’ve all been through those things. Cody will learn from this.”
That was Vigneault a couple of days later, suggesting that Hodgson was using his bad back as an excuse for the demotion. The Canucks had previously claimed he was fit to play the pre-season. But Hodgson got a second opinion and subsequently missed most of last season rehabbing his back.
I guess it easy to know what AV thinks by analyzing his sound bites? What is a suggestion? Here is one definition "the calling up in mind of one idea by another by virtue of some association or of some natural connection between the ideas". No offense to the Kurtenblog guys, they are great, but they got Jedi'd by AV and everyone else on that snippet.
Here's the rub, why are so many people making such a big deal over Hodgson particularly for this season? I am of the firm belief that this team does not need him to make the team this year. The Canucks need him to compete and be healthy, this is probably not far from what Cody needs but very different from what he wants.
I feel Hodgson needs to compete and play with confidence knowing that if he does not make the club it's because he didn't beat out more experienced and better players not because his back was hurt. Hodgson needs to realize through his own personal experience what it takes to compete with men at the highest level there is. This is all part of development, personal and professional.
What Cody wants is different and here we can only speculate. That's the problem and I won't fall for it. Speculation is why the fan base is in a bit of a frenzy. Nonetheless I hope Cody shows up healthy and determined. In my opinion his mental state is just as important as his physical state and a solid showing should end most of the speculation.
