Jamal Mayers has signed a 1 year contract with the San Jose Sharks worth $600,000.

Mike Weaver signs a 2 year contract at $900,000 per season with the Florida Panthers.

As speculated throughout the summer the Blues and D-man Erik Johnson have agreed on a short-term (2 years) contract. The former first overall pick was looking to sign a long-term deal but has opted to accept a two year offer form the Blues. GM Doug Armstrong obviously stood firm on his stance which is for Johnson to further define who he is as a hocky player before the Blues commit long-term dollars. Johson receives $5.2 million over 2 years with a $2.6 cap hit. Johnson will receive $2.2 this coming season and $3 million in 2011-2012. This is what we anticipated after David Perron signed his deal.

In other news, it appears to look more and more like Paul Kariya will end up back where it all began. The Anaheim Ducks have been doing their due diligence on Kariya behind the scenes and are definitely exploring the idea of signing the veteran sniper.
