Now that Marty Biron has signed with the Rangers, do the Sabres re-sign Patty Lalime?

Sabre fans are looking for some fireworks on this most auspicious of days. Will their GM deliver the deals for the veteran Dman to QB the PP, the top 6 scoring forward, and the backup goaler that will inspire the "oooooosss, and aaahhhhhhhssss" ? Or, will the Sabres do a low level deal that will be akin to the kid holding the sparkler and waving it in the wind?

The cap increases to $59 large for the 10/11 season. The Sabres sit at $14.5ish. They spent to near the cap in 09/10.

Will ownership and management light up the skies?

Marty Biron and Jay McKee are sitting in the "716" right now. Why not welcome them both back into the family? Each know the "Lindy system". Each will act as mentors to the youngsters in the room. Who needs Volchenkov at an inflated salary when you can have a monster of a shot blocker in McKee for less money? Jay has a lot of rubber left on the tires and he's a better Dman, in my opinion, than Lydman and Tallinder. with Rivet out til late November (shoulder), Buffalo need another gritty veteran to join Montador at the rear guard position to add leadership to the young group of Myers, Butler, and Sekera.

Biron will add stability in the blue, and serve as Frank Reich to Ryan Miller's Jim Kelly, if you will. signing Biron will give Enroth another full season of 40+ starts in Portland. Marty is ready, willing, and able to do what is asked of him by his organization. It wasn't that long ago that Biron once ripped off 13 consecutive wins in the Buffalo blue when Miller was injured. Why make Enroth ride the pine for 70 games and play a measily 12 games in relief of Miller?

No brainers, eh!
