Well, the Preds obviously are dumping salary to make a larger move and re-signing Ryan Parent is going to be a lot easier as an RFA than re-signing Dan Hamhuis, who is now a Flyer.

When NSH didn't re-up at the trade deadline you knew Hamhuis was a goner this summer.

Wade Arnott, the agent for Hamhuis, says contract talks begin in earnest on MON. Groundwork was laid this morning, he said.

Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren would like to get this done before he has to worry about signing a goalie. That figures to be the focus of Flyers at the draft.
