Monday Notes

- Big doings on the radio this week, tune in to SportsRadio 560 at 6pm Wednesday for some special announcements regarding the radio show. Plus, brush up on your Pred Playoff Trivia as Pete and I will be giving away two pair of tickets for Game 3 of the Predators / Blackhawks series.

- The temporary increase in air pressure around Music City on Sunday has a simple explanation… thousands of Pred fans exhaling at once when the Red Wings defeated the Blackhawks in overtime, meaning that the Predators avoided a series with San Jose.

- Spoke to Patric Hornqvist after Saturday night’s game, he said he would be ready to go for game one of the playoffs. Given that game is now on Friday, it gives a little more time to heal.

- I was kinda surprised at the scheduling for the Chicago / Nashville series. I really expected it to begin on Wednesday. The Harlem Globetrotters are scheduled at the United Center on Thursday night… I guess that is what pushed it to Friday night for the opener.

- Note the later start times for the Preds home games in this series, 8pm face off for game 3 and a 7:30pm faceoff for game 4.

- TV coverage so far… Game 1 and 4 will be on TSN2 in Canada, Versus will be joining these games in progress. Game 5 will be on NBC and TSN. Games 6 and 7 will be on TSN, but I would assume Versus would pick them up if the series goes that far.

- I’m working on my annual “Holding Myself Accountable” blog… I should be posting it sometime this week. I’ll be doing a complete playoff preview with my take on each series as well.

- The Flyers / Rangers game lived up to expectations… what a finish! And BTW, to those complaining about the shootout deciding who went to the playoffs, stop… the SEASON decided who went to the playoffs. If the Rangers or Flyers had won more games, it never would’ve gotten to the shootout on the last day.

- Is anyone else curious that the CBC hasn’t scheduled a single Montreal Canadien game in the first round? They are all on TSN, where the CBC loaded up on Buffalo, Ottawa and Vancouver… interesting.

- Some very interesting matchups in the first round. New Jersey vs. Philly jumps out. The Devils have owned the Flyers in the playoffs but the Flyers have owned the Devils this season. Vancouver vs. LA is another one that fascinates me, not the best matchup for the Canucks… They will need Luongo to be great, something he hasn’t been this season.

- I expect to see news of Blake Geoffrion’s signing sometime this week. The Hobey Baker award winner is a second round pick of the Preds. If he signs he will probably join the Milwaukee Admirals for their playoff run.

- Speaking of the baby Preds… in a strange twist of scheduling, the Admirals are also playing Chicago in their first round match up. Games 1 & 2 are in Chicago on Wednesday and Friday, the series moves to Milwaukee on Saturday and Monday.
