The New York Islanders travel to Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena on Thursday. This will be the final game at the oldest building in the NHL, at least when it comes to the regular season. There will be a pre-game ceremony featuring former Penguins, beginning around 7:20.
So feel free to post your fondest Mellon Arena memories as we bid farewell to the old Igloo. I'll be putting up a photo gallery of the night's festivities on Friday.
The Penguins are looking to keep pace with the New Jersey Devils for the Atlantic Division lead. The Devils are ahead, and these final games are must-win if Pittsburgh wants a chance at the division title.
The Lineup
Evgeni Malkin skated Thursday morning and should be back in the lineup against the Islanders after missing Tuesday's game against Washington with an illness.
Chris Kunitz is out with an undisclosed injury and is not expected to suit up on Thursday.
Projected forward lines:
Dupuis-Crosby-Guerin
Ponikarovsky-Malkin-Fedotenko
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Adams-Talbot-Rupp
Projected defensive pairings:
Gonchar-Eaton
Orpik-Letang
Leopold-Goligoski
Goaltender: Marc-Andre Fleury
Player to Watch: Jordan Leopold
Jordan Leopold scored twice in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. He now has three goals in two games, and clearly represents the second coming of Bobby Orr. We'll see if Orr...err, Leopold can keep up his scoring run Thursday night.
All kidding aside, it's nice to see Leopold contributing offensively. This kind of production is much appreciated as the Penguins near the postseason.
