MINNESOTA WILD RECALLS D JAIME SIFERS FROM HOUSTON AEROS
RW PETR KALUS REASSIGNED TO HOUSTON

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Jaime Sifers from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) and reassigned right wing Petr Kalus to Houston.

Sifers, 27 (1/18/83), has been recalled by the Wild three times this season appearing in eight contests averaging 11:51 in ice time and has not registered a point. He has tallied 16 points (5-11=16) and 30 penalty minutes (PIM) in 44 games with Houston this season. Sifers recorded two assists and 18 PIM in 23 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008-09. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound native of Stratford, Conn., played collegiately at the University of Vermont, where he was an ECAC Second All-Star Team selection in 2005. Sifers wears No. 26 with the Wild.

Kalus, 22 (6/29/87), made his Wild debut last night against Florida and registered 6:41 in ice time after being recalled earlier in the day from Houston.

One can infer that Cal is on the mend and ready to travel with the Wild for their Thursday-Friday back to back games on the road. Sifers replaces Hnidy.

The one good thing is that some of the young guys are getting NHL experience given the team's total lackluster performances. Not sure if that's what you want to show the young guys, but what do you do? Guys are now playing for jobs as they are so far out it would take a miracle for the Wild to make the playoffs at this point.

Hopefully they show up ready to play on the road.

With the annual March swoon in progress, the hockey gods have given the good citizens of the State of Hockey some much needed relief in the form of the Boys' High School Hockey Tournament, a hockey tournament without equal, and the WCHA playoffs (this weekend) and the WCHA Final Five (next Thur - Sat). I will be assisting in coverage of this fine event when it comes to St. Paul for it's annual stop prior to the NCAA Tournament.

So sit back, take a break from the Wild and get ready for coverage of lower levels, yet somewhat more entertaining and enjoyable versions of the coolest sport on earth!
