Big game against cross river rivals

Tonight's game against the Rangers takes on a much bigger magnitude. The slumping Devils face their rivals and they need to get back on track - soon.

Patrik Elias back at center in between Ilya Kovalchuk and Jamie Langenbrunner. Should be interesting but I really think Elias can be a difference maker. He is unselfish enough to generate enough chances for Kovalchuk and that needs to happen now.

A comment from Brian Rolston bothers me;
"When you add a superstar to your team, a lot of times you sit around watching him,"

I got news for you - a veteran should not be watching others. I think this is also a reflection of others on the team. That cannot fly.

Is Kovalchuk's addition more of a distraction than an improvement? I still have an optimistic look and compare it to when the Devils added Alexander Mogilny. It took some time to adjust but paid dividends.

The entire team needs to wake up and play Devils hockey. No better time than tonight to begin.

Paul Martin is not ready yet but is practicing. Another chip we need back into the lineup.

A good test tonight. I expect a hard nosed game.

Lets go Devils!

Truly yours,
