The Avs blew two different three goal leads, falling to the Vancouver Canucks 6-4.
The Avs came out hard in the first period, got two goals from Matt Duchene and one by Chris Stewart but eased off after it, letting the Canucks back in the game.
Overall, the Avs couldn't stop the Sedin line, as it accounted for four of the six goals. Kyle Quincey and Scott Hannan in particular were just awful tonight, getting mixed up and not really covering where they should have been.
Craig Anderson also had a very off game as he is finally starting to look tired after 20 straight starts. He let rebounds out way too far, didn't make good decisions and was just a little slow.
Tonight was a case of "you get what you deserve" for the Avs. If they had sustained their energy from the first period, there's no way the Canucks crawl back into this game. Instead, they led the Canucks build some momentum and come rolling back. Then, they tried to get back to their top gear and just stalled.
Every defenseman and Anderson could have all played better tonight but they seemed to be at ease. Keep the pedal to the medal, take the game to Vancouver and this doesn't happen.
The Avs have been surprising and have had a good season but they missed an opportunity for a real fighting chance at the division tonight.
Now it's on to Florida to close out the Eastern Conference portion of the schedule. Hopefully the Avs remember this one and learn from it.
Three Stars
1. Mikael Samuelsson- along with
2. Daniel Sedin- and his brother
3. Henrik Sedin- killed the Avs tonight, counting for four goals and six assists.
Facepalm of the Game
This one goes to Paul Stastny missing a wide open net off a Luongo turnover. That was the game and he missed it.
Aaey of the Game
Watching the Sedins work together is really pretty and frustrating all at the same time.
