Hard to get off the phone today. Things are once again in acceleration mode as we steam towards Friday's 3pm trade freeze.

Quick Hits. Random Rumors from sources...then back to the phones.

* The Rangers and Panthers are talking and it sounds like a mega deal. Right now the rumor isn't attached to any specific names, but sources are only saying "surprising names for both teams," and "A basic re-shuffle the deck deal." I could have names by 5pm if one source gets back to me.

* It appears the Senators are talking to the Anaheim Ducks about a D-man not named Niedermayer or Boynton. More on that soon.

* The Bruins and Caps are in on Tkachuk.

* The Calgary Flames are talking to the Flyers about a deal as well. These teams have been talking for quite some time now. The Flames and Flyers are both in the midst of average seasons and could use a shuffle of the deck deal. I get the impression the deal is a major one, and waiting on the teams to decide after the Olympics.

* If it is about the money I am told the Edmonton Oilers are preparing to possibly go max on Kovalchuk.

*The Bruins and Habs are looking at Souray...

*The Canadiens could make a trade by Friday I am told. I would not be shocked if Nathan Horton or Peter Mueller is a Hab.

* More and more I am hearing the Preds are talking to the Devils re: Hamhuis. The Devils need scoring and scoring alone. The Preds have also talked to Carolina regarding Cullen.
