I am hearing some rather surprising stuff coming out of Florida and California tonight regarding the fact that the Panthers may have interest in Scott Gomez. I have reported recently and know for fact that Nathan Horton is the prime target for the Canadiens. Gomez has a very odd limited no trade clause in his deal that allows him to pre select a certain number of teams that he would accept a deal to prior to the season.

Again, that doesn't prohibit the Canadiens from going to him and asking him...as the Rangers did this summer.

More on the Edmonton/Rangers talk. I have found out today as I followed up, that Higgins is another player that the Oilers have interest in.

I am also hearing that the Ottawa Senators are talking to the Rangers. The Sens also love Dubinsky and McDonough

As for Kovalchuk, the two sides are still quite apart on years and I am hearing that the dollar amount won't even be discussed.

The Canes aren't only talking to the Oilers regarding Staal. Another team that would very in on the Eric Staal sweeps (should the sweeps ever happen) is the LA Kings who apparently have been offering up some huge packages for Staal's brother Jordan for some time now.
