I spoke to Blair Betts and Darroll Powe this afternoon from Denver at their residences.

Betts blames himself for getting hurt, telling me, he should not have reached out for a puck. Powe said that contrary to some rumblings on the net, the hit he took in San Jose that will sideline him for 4-6 weeks _ same as Betts _ wasn't dirty.

I asked Paul Hilmgren today whether he was happy with the "effort" or lackthereof, against those Desert Dogs. I pointed out that 8 players didn't take a shot in the game. Maybe their shoulders hurt, I don't know.

Anyway, the GM was not happy with his team in SJ or Phoenix.
