McKee Out 2-4 Weeks With Infected Finger; Sarge, Talbot to Return Tomorrow

There was a movie out recently called "The Box." I haven't seen it, but the commercial shows a couple who is given the opportunity to procure $1,000,000 dollars by doing nothing more than pressing a red button that sits in a box. Sounds like a great idea... however, as with anything in life, there is a catch.

In this situation, pressing the button and earning your $1,000,000 kills someone...somewhere. Some unsuspecting soul dies so that you can live on with your new riches. Quite the rub if you ask me... especially when the person that dies could be in Zanzibar or sitting in the room with you! That premise got me thinking about the Penguins situation as of late...

Every time the team gets some good news regarding an injury...(presses the button)...it seems that another in their ranks goes down.

We have been celebrating the fact that Max Talbot and Sergei Gonchar are both very close to returning to the line-up only to be slapped in the face with more bad news today.

It seems that Jay McKee will miss two to four weeks with an infected finger, while Mark Eaton left the practice ice early for an undisclosed reason this morning.

I don't know what the deal is with Eaton as of yet, let's hope that it is nothing serious, as losing he and McKee would officially eliminate the entire top six that started the season for the Penguins.

I was able to speak with Jay McKee via text message a few minutes ago and he is as upbeat about the situation as one can be. He says that his infection isn't serious as it was caught early. He also praised the youngster who have been called up, saying that they are playing well!

With this new news breaking, it looks as if Sergei Gonchar might try and go tomorrow night in Ottawa. If that doesn't work out, he would almost certainly be back on Saturday night. Talbot is also expected to make his season debut in Ottawa.

I will keep my ear to the ground in regard to the Eaton situation and keep you guys posted...

Brooks Orpik has been cleared for contact, but will most likely not be ready for tomorrow night. Kris Letang was also on the ice skating with a red no contact jersey... at least they are all starting to get healthy!
