The Nashville Predators are hot, 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. The only problem is tonight’s opponent, the San Jose Sharks, are hotter. The Sharks are 7-0-3 in their last ten. The Predators are looking to atone for the loss at the Shark Tank one week ago where the Predators lost a game where they should’ve gotten at least a point.

I expect Pekka Rinne in net again tonight. He had very little work this past Saturday night, even joking in the post-game scrum that he should’ve brought his Ipod out in the first period. His lack of work is indicative of the team’s improved defensive play as of late, especially when it comes to limiting shots, not allowing any team to exceed 30 shots in seven of their last eight games.

Combine that defensive responsibility with a team that is almost fully healthy, a reunited top line that looked dangerous against St. Louis and was dangerous against Montreal and a new trend toward initiating a more physical game, you get a Predator’s team that is moving up in the standings, only three points out of the eight spot in the conference. Nashville is still the only team in the league to have not cracked 40 goals on the young season, but improvement is evident.
