Looks like the league agreed with Ranger's coach John Tortorella at least in principle as the NHL has handed down a three same suspension to the Flames forward today.
John made no bones about the fact that he thought the hit was dirty and it should have resulted in a five minute major when the hit occurred but it was "missed" by the officials.
Although it's always a struggle to try and understand the rationale behind many of the league's discipline decisions this one seems to be a case where the punishment is at least relatively sensible. That being said, I can understand those who would feel that a greater suspension could be called for simply due to the fact that Drury didn't have the puck and was unlikely to get the puck at any time close to the hit.
I love what Glencross brings to the table but the NHL NEEDS to show that this type of play that has nothing to do with hockey simply won't be accepted. Does a three game suspension send that type of message?
Have a great day!
