HEAD-TO-HEAD HISTORY
* The Bruins are 110-101-29-5 all time against the Sabres with a 67-40-14-1 record at home.

* The B’s were 2-3-1 against the Sabres in 2008-09.

* The Bruins haven’t held the Sabres scoreless in a game in Boston since January 29th of 2000. Byron Dafoe was victorious in a 1-0 win for the B’s.

*The last time the Bruins were shutout at home against the Sabres was by Jocelyn Thibault on April 5, 2008 in a 3-0 win for Buffalo.

* The Bruins have never swept a season series against Buffalo. The last time the Sabres pulled it off was 1996-97 (5-0-0).

TEN OBSCURE STATS
1. Marco Sturm has 10-4-14 totals in 31 career games against Buffalo.
2. Tim Connolly has 20pts in 23 career games against the B’s.
3. Ryan Miller has a 14-5-0-4 record lifetime against Boston.
4. Tuukka Rask is 3-0-0 with a 0.97 GAA and .967% in games played on a Saturday.
5. Paul Gaustad has a ridiculous 68.4% faceoff success rate in 2009-10.
6. Patrick Kaleta leads Buffalo with 30 hits in 12 games.
7. Vladimir Sobotka is now up to 29 hits in just 8 contests.
8. Boston has scored the first goal in just 4 of their 15 games.
9. The Sabres are 7-0-1 when they score first in 2009-10.
10. Buffalo’s road PP is at 10.0% this year, far lower than their 25.6% is at home.

THE TIES THAT BIND
* The Boston Bruins acquired winger Daniel Paille from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2010 3rd round draft pick and a conditional 2010 4th round draft pick last month.

* Sabres defenseman Steve Montador suited up in 13 regular season games and 11 playoff games for the Bruins last season.

* Tim Connolly and Zdeno Chara were teammates on the Islanders from 1999-2001.

KNOW YOUR ENEMY
* Tim Connolly and I are not related. What a bummer.

* RW Mike Grier played at Boston University from 1993-94 to 1995-96. He tied for the team lead in goals in the 1994-95 season with 29, and was second on the team in points with 55.

* LW Tim Kennedy led the Sioux City Musketeers in both goals (30) and points (61) back in 2004-05. He repeated that feat in 2007-08 while at Michigan State University. His 43 points were tops, with current Red Wings’ forward Justin Abdelkader right behind him with 40.

THREE KEYS TO VICTORY FOR THE BRUINS
1. Keep up the good work on the PK. The lone bright spot for the B’s as of late has been their success shorthanded. They need to shutdown Buffalo’s largely unsuccessful road PP (10%) tonight.

2. Another strong start from Tuukka. Rask will get the nod tonight, facing off with the Sabres for the first time in his young career. He was rock solid in his last outing, a 2-0 shutout over the Oilers on Halloween.

3. An end to the goal-less droughts…for someone. Mark Recchi, Michael Ryder and Marco Sturm have not provided the necessary offense this team is in dire need of. One of them has to bury one, and an awakening from any member of the trio tonight would be huge for the B’s.
