I say Ray Emery, you say?

Talk about polar 180s, eh?

Marty Biron is handed the metaphorical the key to the Queen City every time he comes home. The Buffalo faithful adore him and lavish him with love and platitudes.

Bet the house payment that it won't be the same type of adulation Friday night inside the Hot Sauce and Blue Cheese Arena when arch nemesis, Ray Emery, takes the ice for the pregame skate.

The mere appearance of Emery, ever the antagonist, will no doubt drive the collective blood pressure of the 18,690 in attandance off the charts. the weather will be frosty outside, however, the air in the building will be down right hot and nasty! Just the way we like it!

The Pavlovian affect taht Emery has on the fans of Buffalo is unique and real. he stirs their emotions, and they give it right back to him.

Makes for tasty subplots, and exciting, sometimes unpredictable action on and off the ice.

Emery has had a hate-hate relationship with Buffalo fans over the years. They seem to hate him, and the feeling is mutual. Kind of like Pedro Martinez on the bump in Yankee Stadium, eh?

He's picked fights with Marty, sacre bleu! He's even bumped his gums incessantly about the level nightlife options available to young hipsters in the twenties and thirties.

In the 2007 ECF's, Ottawa GM Bryan Murray ,felt it best that he sequester Emery, Spezz, Heater, and the Sens in the Millenium Hotel in Cheektowaga, away from the distractions and noise in downtown Buffalo. Worked out for Ottawa as they defeated Buffalo and advanced to Le coupe. The Sens opened that series with two in Buffalo, which meant off days in between games. I'll neve forget being in the Otatwa room during those first two games in Buffalo. Talk about a side show? That was the seaon that Chris Neil decided to drop the 180 kilometre elbow on Chris Drury's jaw, and the rest is history! Emery was none too pleased with the fact that the only attractions that he and his Sens mates could avail themselves of was the Cheesecake Factory at the Walden Galleria Mall. Sabres fans and Western New yorkers took umbrage to emery's assertion that there is nothing to do in Buffalo. willis Mcgahee had the same take and opted for the bright lights and paparazzi of... wait for it... Baltimore! Whatever. Get your head in the game.

As if the Sabres and Flyers needed something else to hate each other about. Can't wait for puck drop!
