With the Montreal Canadiens coming to town tomorrow, the Bruins have announced that Providence winger Mikko Lehtonen will be joining the club for their first tilt with the Habs in 2009-10.

Lehtonen, a 6'5", 203-pound native of Finland, has 3-7-10 totals through 11 AHL games this year, with 25 minutes in penalties. Lehtonen led the Baby B's in goals last year with 28, finishing fourth in scoring with 28-25-53 totals in 72 games. The 83rd overall pick in 2005 by the Bruins, Lehtonen has appeared in one NHL game to date. He partook in the Bruins April 11th loss in Buffalo at the tail end of the 2008-09 regular season.

So one must wonder: why is Lehtonen being called upon?

Is Byron Bitz out for longer than expected? That, in all likelihood, is the most logical explanation as the 4th line winger is nursing a groin injury.

Are the B's just shaking things up? Time for Whitfield or one of Sobotka/Marchand to take a seat? I'd prefer the former if that's what this move is based upon.

Has yet another member of the Black and Gold sustained an injury? Lehtonen is a right-handed shooting RW. Is something ailing Mark Recchi or Michael Ryder, two players off to undeniably slow starts this season?

And to jump back to the topic of the Canadiens, how crazy is this:

PJ Axelsson, Milan Lucic, Marc Savard, Phil Kessel, Chuck Kobasew, Aaron Ward, Shane Hnidy, Steve Montador, Stephane Yelle

What do the 9 names have in common? All of them suited up for game four of the Bruins 1st round sweep of the Habs this past Spring. None of them, due to injuriess and various transactions, will be in the lineup on Thursday.

I'd dole out the list of all of the departed Habs from a season ago, but, there's only so much time in the day.

Back to World Series watching I go. Come on, Pedro!
