How's Your Off-Season Been?

Ok, so the Flames have been playing with similar frequency to sightings of Bigfoot for the last several games but tonight the Flames begin a set of three games in four nights as they face Dallas for the second time this season.

Sure the sporadic schedule seemed to be positive initially as the Flames were able to really work on some things in practise and it translated into a 3-0 start of their five game road-trip but the wheels seemed to fall off a little as they limped to a 3-2 overall record by struggling in their last two games to find any kind of consistency in their game.

The simple explanation is that although the teaching time was clearly needed and was showing signs of working on the ice the sheer length of time being spent at home and without playing games had the team reverting back to bad habits by the end of the home-stand and Brent Sutter showed his opinion by riding the team hard in practise after their latest setback and pointing out every time a player tried to take a shortcut and letting them know the expectations of the coaching staff.

Perhaps the team needs some time away from home to be able to focus and get back on the right track. I bet there are more than a few players that will be happy to leave with the story being released that the players were able to skip lines to get the H1N1 shot along with their families. And coincidentally, while we're on that subject, is it fair to blame the players for something the organization did? Just putting that out there...

As for tonight, the Flames are looking to get back into the win column against a team they've already lost to this season and are also in the midst of a two game slide. One thing's for sure: Everyone is wondering when the Flames stars will start producing like they're expected to.

Have a great day!
