gotta love that extra hour of sleep!

Almost everyone tagged them for 15th in the conference and now they are 10-2-2 and I am hard pressed to find a team that ever missed the playoffs after such a hot start. The one team that I can remember really collapsing a few years back was the Ottawa Senators who came out on fire and truly fell apart in almost every way possible and yet still finished in 8th although they were swept in the opening round of the playoffs.

That was a team that had high expectations going into the year, while the Avalanche came into this season with zero expectations. They are riding a wave right now that is truly remarkable and playing solid at all aspects, yet youthful teams have been known to hit walls.
