Now that is more like it! The Nashville Predators showed themselves last night for the first time this season showing the work ethic and defensive responsibility that Pred Nation is used to seeing in a very satisfying 2-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. The biggest key to last night’s win was in between the pipes. Pekka Pinne was outstanding, earning first star honors at the game and was named one of My Three Stars on Hockey This Morning along with third star of the night on NHL.com.

The effort, defense and goaltending shown last night has to continue if this team is to get themselves back in the race.

Martin Erat was scratched last night for what is being called a “lower body injury.”

Solid recognition ceremony last night as Trace Kimler handled the ceremonial puck drop pre-game. I especially loved the dedication to Chase that preceded the ceremony. This was all part of Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Sommet Center.

Trace is a great kid and I’m so glad he’s in remission.

Tomorrow night is the Pred’s last home game for two weeks as they will head to California for the annual CMA road trip. Special deal for a family of four, four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks for $99… there will be a costume contest and a pre-game Terry Crisp look-a-like contest as well.

This will be the third game against Dallas in the first month of the season. Puck drops at 7:08pm.

Sheesh… a couple of Pred wins and all of a sudden the Central looks really tight… Chicago is leading the division with 15 points, followed by Columbus at 12, then St. Louis, Detroit and Nashville with 11.

OFF TOPIC - Now I know I can complain about officiting occasionally, but Major League Baseball should be appalled at the terrible calls happening in the World Series on both sides... just some blatant blown calls that need to be addressed.
