Injury Train rolls into LA

The NW Injury Express arrives in LA tonight and we can be assured that this is a team reeling from consistent bad news. There is news though as Salo and Rypien are back in the lineup. Now depending on perspective this is good or bad news and I'm not sure I'm leaning either way.

I'm glad Salo is back and I like him as a player. I like Rypien too... but not the way he is playing right now. He needs to corral his game and play smarter while not losing his reckless edge. It's not that he has been reckless, rather he's been careless and it's the latter trait that is affecting his over all value to the team.

Raycroft is in net with Cory Schneider backing him up. If there is an incentive for the team to play a tighter more alert brand of defensive hockey then this is the reason... for the keeper. The Canucks this season have often relied on Luongo to bail them out, the results so far have been mixed but with Raycroft that luxury is almost gone. The team cannot expect to outscore LA nor can it expect to beat them between the pipes- this has to be a cohesive collective with full team effort.

What more is there to say? This is a team that has the I1N1 virus AKA Orca flu except it gives you random injuries when you least expect it. For game #13 the team has to have great leadership and communication for a win. If there is a time to gel as a squad and play together this is it.

It's all about cliches now and I could cite a ton of them but you guys know the deal, look in the mirror, look around the room and play for each other. Until we get a few more guys back this is about all we hope for with the team.

Enjoy the game!
