THE TIES THAT BIND
*
Zdeno Chara was a Senator from 2001-02 until 2005-06.
*
Andrew Ference and Alex Kovalev were teammates on the Penguins from 1999-00 until 2002-03. Kovalev was swapped to the Rangers in February of 2003, a day after Ference was sent to Calgary for future considerations.
*
Shean Donovan played 76 games for the Bruins back in 2006-07 during the memorable Dave Lewis era.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY
*
Jonathan Cheechoo led the 1999-00 Belleville Bulls of the OHL in goals and points with 45-46-91 totals in 66 games that year. Former NHL forward
Branko Radivojevic finished third in points with 72.
*
Brian Elliott was lights out for the U. of Wisconsin in 2005-06. The netminder had a 1.55 GAA and .938 Sv%, along with 8 shutouts in 33 games. Sharks center
Joe Pavelski led the Badgers with 56 points in 43 games that season.
*
Anton Volchenkov had 4-15-19 totals in 47 games for Krylja Sovetov (Russia) in 2001-02. Disgruntled Kings’ forward Alex Frolov led the team in scoring with 30 points in 42 games.
THREE KEYS TO VICTORY FOR THE BRUINS
1. Keep up the good work on the PK. The Bruins have gone back-to-back games without allowing a PPG. Against the Senators woeful PP (12.5%, 29th), that streak should have a good shot of continuing.
2. Minimize Alfredsson’s damage. Hard to ask the Bruins to blank the red hot Swede (7pts last 3gp), but keeping his impact to a minimum will be extremely beneficial.
3. History on TT’s side. Thomas, as you’ve read, has a superb track record in his career against Ottawa. If he can continue his domination of the Senators, the Bruins can jump above .500 for the first time in 2009-10.
